SolarFast Film is unique in that one side is waterproof. This is important when making SolarFast prints because the surface is damp during exposure. Because SolarFast Film is waterproof, it won't get damaged by the damp surface, so you can use your negatives over and over again. Non-waterproof film will not only be damaged by the dye, it may also absorb some of the dye during exposure, leading to blotchy and mottled prints.
